Purpose of the Job:
- To ensure that the overall banking operation is in line with the Bank’s policies and procedures and
- Applicable laws and regulations by conducting procedural audit at branch level; and to ensure the adequacy of the internal control system of the Bank
- Internal Auditor he /she has to add value and improve our operations by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
Main Duties
- Examine each and every transaction and related documents and verify accuracy and legitimacy on a daily basis.
- Perform and control the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations
- Give objective assurance of the existing policies, procedure and regulatory directives and relevant laws in the assigned work unit and determine internal audit scope and develop annual plans.
- Obtain analyses and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data, flowcharts etc.
- Examine and analyze proper execution of operations of the assigned work unit in line with the work unit’s operating policies and procedures.
- Communicate audit findings to Auditors to obtain their responses and prepare action plan for final rectifications. Prepare and present reports that reflect audit’s results and document process
- Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement.
- Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings.
- Maintain open communication with management and audit committee.
- Document process and prepare audit findings memorandum
- Conduct follow up audits to monitor management’s interventions
- Engage to continuous knowledge development regarding sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards.
- Review the daily Audit Work paper and prepare the monthly Audit report.
- Closely monitor rectification of the Audit findings.
- Carry out preliminary and comprehensive special investigation on frauds, embezzlements and other issues as assigned by the management or the Board of Directors and recommend appropriate action.
- Review periodic returns of the work units to verify that their financial reports truly depict their financial position, examine some minor IT issues at the work unit as stipulated in the audit procedure and conduct physical count of stock and fixed assets and verify existence and reconciliation against financial records.
- Review and comment on customer handling and staff relationship at the unit based on observations.

Qualifications and experience:
- The successful candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and a sound judgment and he or she should 2 years’ experience working in audit banking
- Full professional qualifications is desirable and specialist experience in banking sector will an advantageous
- Must be confident, self-starter, an independent thinker and have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; team oriented.
