Role of the Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing and overseeing the financial activities of the company. This position requires a high level of expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support overall business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Support the finance manager in the preparation of financial models, forecasts, and budgets to guide strategic decision-making, analyze financial data and provide insights to support business objectives.
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage cash flow, optimize working capital, and implement strategies to maximize cash efficiency.
  • Ensure proper approval for all payment requests on time, ensure processing of accounts payable and receivable, and ensure all unused cheques and receipts are kept in a safe and secure environment.
  • Oversee the implementation of documentation and record-keeping, and proper accounting of current and fixed assets.
  • Analyze costs and expenses to identify areas for cost saving and improving efficiency. Implement cost control measures while maintaining operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, laws and standards.
  • Collaborate with auditors during internal and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor. 
  • First degree in Accounting and Finance
  • At least three (3) years of progressive experience in relevant field.
