Marie Stopes International (MSI) is one of the largest international Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) and Family Planning (FP) organizations in the world. We are a results oriented social enterprise that develop efficient, effective and sustainable SRH/FP programmes around the world.

Marie Stopes International Ethiopia (MSIE), a partner of MSI, is currently undertaking a dramatic scale-up of health service delivery for low income women and couples in Ethiopia. Under direct supervision from the Program Director, the project manager will contribute to the organizational the project planning, coordination, and implementation of the plan. S/he is responsible for the overall results, reporting and management of the project. As a member of the program Team, the position holder provides leadership, guidance, technical support, and capacity building to the Project teams, while ensuring adherence to all MSI standard policies and best practices. 

The position holder mainly looks after the GAC funded OTF (Owning their future) project results, budget, reports, and field work. In addition to this project others funded by the internal fund and other donors project related works will be the responsibility of the position holder.


2.      DUTIES/TASKS

Field Implementation and Strategy

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects (OTF, EC, etc…)
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget (OTF project, IF project, etc…)
  • Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Develop a detailed project plan to track progress
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors

·         Adapt and implement MSI Success Models

·         Document and share best practices

·         Ensure donor compliance for all projects, with support of Senior Grant Manager

·         Manage monthly and quarterly burn rates and field budget allocation with support of the program manager and Grant and Finance teams.

·         Government relations; including representation at meetings, ensuring compliance of programmatic activities, biannual and annual programmatic reports and evaluations to government bodies and preparing project agreements.

·         Collaboration with finance, procurement, HR and commercial services to ensure seamless implementation of MSIE activities.

Team Management and Development

  • Coach and mentor field level project team members;
  • Ensure team working and knowledge sharing are facilitated; 

Ensures all team members are developed, motivated and engaged so as to continuously improve work performances

a.      Education

 MBA/MSc/MPH/ in Business Management, Public Health or related disciplines

b.            Experience

Above 6 years of relevant experience

B.     Skills, Attitudes and Attributes

·         Knowledge of various donors’ rules and regulations;

·         Strong knowledge of SRH services;

·         Excellent commend of written and spoken English is essential;

·         Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;

·         Strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines;

·         Understanding of the issues surrounding provision of reproductive health care services internationally understanding major policies/issues of large bilateral/multilateral donors;

Type of Employment: contract for a year with possible extension
