Background
New Millennium Women Empowerment Organization (NMWEO) is an indigenous, non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization working on development, women empowerment, Gende Equality, humanitarian responses, sexual reproductive health education, economic empowerment and Environmental protection interventions in the last over fifteen years.
NMWEO has been re-registered by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Authority for Civil Societies Organization (ACSO) in accordance with Organizations for Civil societies Agency Proclamation No.113/2019 obtained certification with a registration No. 0539

Mission
Our mission is to empower Ethiopian women, girls, and youth in economic, political, and social dimensions, help them to unlock their potential in decision making through capacity building, advocacy, leadership development, and humanitarian intervention programs.
NMWEO is currently working at Tigray Region with project theme support conflict affected IDPs recently returned or relocated funded by EHF(Ethiopian Humanitarian Fund) and implemented with partner NRC(Norwegian Refuge Council). Thus, we want qualified individuals for the following position.
Job Summary:
Social inclusion and gender officer will be responsible for leading project implementation of social inclusion and Gender officer of EHF (Ethiopian Humanitarian Fund) project. The position holder will support and coordinate gender analysis and assured social inclusion in the project. To ensure program activities result in positive outcomes for male and female participants of different age groups, S/he will have overall responsibility for building team members’ and partners’ capacity to integrate GESI perspective into activities. Overall S/he will be accountable for coordinating, planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the GESI components of the Ethiopian Humanitarian Fund at project Shiraro.
Job Responsibilities:
- planning, monitoring, and implementation: Involve in planning, implementation, budget management, and GESI components;
- Ensure the implementation of GESI
- Following GESI activities are implemented as per the Annual Activity and Budget Plan approved by the project
- Provide technical advice to the project manager in the area of GESI
- Ensure proper records are available to respond to the EHF result framework indicators
- Produce and share progress reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) on the due date and submit them to the project office and Head office
- Keep recordings of all documents, lessons learned, and success of Gender youth and social dynamics project implementation.
- Based on the annual activity and budget plan, make regular field visits to beneficiary households and furnish monitoring reports to the project manager for timely decision making;

NMWEO holds a zero-tolerance policy against sexual exploitation and abuse and harassment. NMWEO expects its employees to maintain high ethical standards, protect organizational integrity and reputation, and ensure that EHF work is carried out in honest and fair methods, in alignment with the NMWEO Heartbeat and safeguarding and associated policies. Violations to stated policies will be subject to corrective action up to and including termination of employment.
Gender Responsibility:
- Be aware of the stereotypes about women’s and men’s capacities, and discuss how they influence staff, in assigning responsibility, and in managing resources at unit and organization level.
- Be able to describe how gender issues relate to one’s job responsibilities and how gender equity can be promoted through the execution of those responsibilities.
- Be familiar with the local Gender Focal Point(s), and go to her/him to learn more about gender issues, or when there is a gender grievance or harassment issue to resolve
- Within each project and department, discuss NMWEO’s Gender & Diversity and Sexual Harassment and sexual exploitation Policies, so that all staff are conversant with them.
- Refrain from any comments or gestures that indicate prejudicial views of female staff, especially female supervisors.
- In each Project and Head Office, ask women staff what changes would make it more “gender-friendly”, organization and implement the recommendations

Term of Employment: Contract for 12 Months
- BA in Development & Gender Studies, Sociology or relevant field of study.
- 3 years related experience in a relevant position Preferably in NGO Setting
- Strong computer skills and knowledge in the area of MS word, MS Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint, and email communication.
- High level of initiative-taking.
- Training on gender mainstreaming, gender analysis, community dialogue facilitation skills is an added advantage
Language:
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Knowledge of the local language of the intervention area is preferred.
