The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.

AHRI would like to hire qualified candidate in the position of Senior  Lab Engineer-Biomedical Engineer under Laboratory Management Center.

Duties and Responsibility

·         Provide preventive and Corrective maintenance to medical and research laboratory equipment in a safe, self-directed and timely manner.

·         Prepare documentation and maintain records pertaining to all repairs, replacement parts, calibrations and modifications of laboratory and medical equipment.

·         Prepare new laboratory or medical equipment specifications

·         Provide installation and acceptance testing of new equipment and devices

·         Communicate with sponsors, vendors and potential customers about equipment malfunctions

·         Maintains biomedical equipment supplies inventory; anticipating needs; managing orders

·         Advice on service agreements for equipment to be serviced by external organizations

·         Utilize broad and innovative skills to work in a team environment to find solutions to challenging problems

·         Work with the teams to deliver the responsibility and plan of the unit.

·         MSc in Biomedical Engineering and 6 years’ experience preferable in hospital or related sector; OR

·         BSc in Biomedical Engineering and 4 years’ experience preferable in hospital or related sector

·         Preferable if the applicant has an electrical experience background
