About Us
World Vision Ethiopia began its first intervention in Ethiopia in 1971 with relief and opened the Ethiopia office in 1975. Relief, rehabilitation, and small community development projects dominated the decade that followed. During the 1984/85 drought, World Vision Ethiopia participated in a massive relief operation that saved the lives of millions of people.
Starting its operation with emergency intervention in some parts of Ethiopia, World Vision currently operates in 53 Area Programs (APs) implementing effective programmes, such as Education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Nutrition, Emergency Response, Faith and Development, Food Security, Economic Development, Climate change, and environmental projects and other cross-cutting programmes.
GEOGRAPHIC COVERAGE
At present registered and licensed by Ethiopia’s Charities and Societies Agency, World Vision Ethiopia operates in 53 Area Programs (APs), coordinated by eight programme offices in eight regional states and one city administration.
Moreover, World Vision carries out emergency response interventions in Northern Ethiopia, Eastern and Southern Somali (Dollo odo and Bokolomaya), Oromia (West Guji, Borena, East and West Wolega, and East and West Hararghe), and SNNP (Gedeo).

This position is for the anticipated USAID/Ethiopia Markets for Sanitation Activity project & the employment is subject to the acquisition of the grant. Woman are highly encouraged
JOB RESPONSIBITLIES
- The Senior GESI Advisor will contribute by advising and leading efforts to ensure integration of gender empowerment activities throughout the project to ensure success of gender equity and sustainability.
- Gender and Advocacy capacity building to staff and selective community representatives.
- Internal and external networking with senior level policy makers and implementers in the Ethiopian government, NGOs, International and local civil society organizations and other institutions on advocacy and gender matters.
- Evidence based best practices/learning documented and shared at national level to influence policy makers and mobilizing favorable opinion
- Contribute to enhancing the quality of the program in gender lens engaging all stakeholders.
- Enhance Networking and collaboration with Local and Regional Government, NGOs and private sector.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Understand the Humanitarian/Development industry, specifically WASH programming
- Post-Graduate Degree, preferably Women and Gender Studies, Development Studies or Social Science
- Problem solving, negotiation, communication and collaborative skills
- At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in I/NGO context.
- Proven experience in Team Leadership and facilitation
- S/he must have demonstrated capabilities in high-level strategic visioning and working effectively with local government, national government, and the private sector.
- Experience with NSAs, and community structure/platforms), and capacity building of CSOs and/or FBOs.
Excellent communication and writing skills in Amharic and English.
USD paid in Ethiopian Birr on prevailing monthly exchange rate as per the National Bank of Ethiopia on the 20th of the month
