Position Description
Kenticha Mining PLC (KMplc) is an exploration and mining company headquartered in Ethiopia with operations in the south of the country. The company is looking for dynamic, self-motivated and experienced geology and related practitioners to join a growing team of exploration professionals. Candidates must be Ethiopian citizens or hold a valid Ethiopian work permit. Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Senior Geologist will implement and run field-based exploration programs across the company’s tenement areas. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned exploration professional with a strong technical background.
Reporting to the GIS Specialist and Database Manager, the Senior Database Geologist will be responsible for KMplc’s site-based geological data capture/entry, GIS, and sample dispatch activities. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on team player with previous field-based data capture and GIS experience.
Key areas of responsibility
- Oversee site-based geological data capture and data compilation activities (in both hard copy and digital formats).
- Actively participate in data entry activities, ensuring that standard operating procedures are adhered to.
- Validate, edit, and manipulate geological data as it pertains to the database.
- Generate fair copy geological maps and sections as required.
- Crosscheck data received from geologists and other technical staff subsequent to data entry.
- Identify and remedy data errors.
- Monitor the implementation of company QAQC protocols as per standard operating procedures
Location: Field-based (Kenticha), 4-weeks on / 2 weeks off, 6-day workweek

As a minimum, the prospective candidate must have/be:
- A B.Sc. degree in Earth Sciences from a reputable tertiary institution.
- At least two years of geological database and/or GIS experience.
- Computer literate, experienced with ArcMap / ArcGIS Pro and Excel.
- Previous field-based mineral exploration experience would be deemed advantageous, as would an understanding of basic exploration procedures.
- Able to logically compile digital data, digitize spatial data, register maps, and export spatial data in a variety of formats.
- Able to work under minimal supervision on a variety of tasks simultaneously.
- An accurate, methodical worker with good numeracy skills.
- Good English language speaking and writing skills.
