Bethzatha Health Services PLC is looking to recruit an experienced, energetic, and highly professional Senior Accounting.
Job Description
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
The Senior Accountant shall ensure general accounting operations and control our financial transactions including reconciling account balances and bank statements٫ maintaining the general ledger٫ preparing month-end close procedures and including ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all company’s accounting tasks. The Accountant expected to possess both excellent analytical skills and an in-depth knowledge of accounting principles to efficiently analyze financial reports and forecasts.
Essential Functions
Prepare and lead monthly general ledger closing process, management analysis of variance in revenue and adhering to GAAP and IFRS compliance
· Consolidate, review and analyze monthly/quarterly/annual financial data, including the analysis of variances and identification of unusual items to determine GAAP, IFRS, Government tax and company policies
· Assist staff with proper GAAP and IFRS compliances and day-to-day accounting operation.
· Prepare and maintain financial and business transactions, by applying accounting principles, including work that is analytical, evaluative, and advisory in nature and that requires an understanding of both accounting theory and practice
· Analyze company’s financial information (such as cash management٫ expenditures٫ and revenues) making sure that company’s financial operations do not exceed budget limits. Review budget suggestions and requests. Review completed budgets for compliance with legal regulations
- Provide inputs and advice to company including recommending changes that will maximize revenue and profit
- Ensure sending invoices and account updates to clients, receiving, sorting, and tracking incoming payments, addressing and resolving client questions and issues relating to invoices, and providing regular, accurate reports of billing data.
· Check and verify cash transactions and take care of the cash management system of the company and their payment mechanism
· Review and manage accounts payable and receivable
· Create timely and accurate accounting reports and present them to company’s executives and senior management
· Develop recommendations to optimize company’s accounting systems and procedures and detect inaccuracies
· Support and consult company’s personnel on accounting control procedures
· Supervise junior accounting officers٫ plan their work and assign tasks
· Participate in department’s goal setting activities and month-end and year-end closing processes and take part in forecasting and financial standards setting processes
· Prepare tax, cash GAAP and IFRS reporting and support and oversee tax audits (both internal and external) and tax returns
· Produces payroll by initiating computer processing; printing checks, verifying finished product
· Build, load and maintain the fixed assets register and ensure that the fixed assets register complies with the rules and regulations as per the government and company fixed asset management policy.
· Support business processes and accounting policies and prepare corresponding documentation
· Secures financial information by completing database backups
· Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
Qualifications
· BA degree in Accounting٫ Finance or other relevant fields; a certification will be an advantage.
· At least five years’ experience as a senior accountant.
· Experience in managing accountants and junior analysts desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Profound experience with typical accounting procedures
- Good experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Good knowledge and of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards(IFRS), AABE requirements, and related Government regulations
- Good practical experience with accounting software packages٫ Peach tree, QuickBooks and other
- Good knowledge of financial accounting statements and business trends
- Good understanding of MS Office٫ especially Excel
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills٫ with accuracy and attention to detail
