Armauer Hansen Research Inistitute(AHRI)

The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.

AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of malaria, mycobacterium and other diseases of public health importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.

The Malaria and Neglected Tropical Disease (MNTD) Directorate in AHRI runs several projects in collaboration with local and international organizations. To manage the projects, at the MNTD, AHRI would like to hire qualified candidate in the position of Project Manager.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

·      Create and manage long-term goals of the unit with other colleagues

·      Support PIs in writing project proposals

·      Implement and manage changes and interventions to ensure projects goals are achieved.

·      Implement and manage projects under the malaria team

·      Develop a budget and support execution of plan of projects

·      Organize the MNTD research projects and activities with other colleagues

·      Support PIs in their finance utilizations and progressive achievements

·      Perform bookkeeping of the project accounts in collaboration with project managers and coordinators

·      Provide project summaries to funders and partners and during meetings with stakeholders

·      Produce accurate and timely reporting of projects status throughout the life cycle.

·      Work in harmony with a team with a diverse array of background, talents and responsibilities.

·      Conduct any other responsibilities assigned by the directorate and institute.

Job Requirement

·         Master’s degree in project management, public health or related field.

·         Minimum of 6 years experience in various capacities, including proven experience in projects management.

·         Proven stakeholder management skills.

·         Proven experience in managing a team.

·         Experience using computers and various applications for a variety of tasks.

·         Competency in Microsoft applications including Word and Excel.

·         Understanding of project management.

·         Proven communication skill

·         Fluency in English communication (spoken & written)
