Position Title: Project Assistant – MHPSS

Background

Under the overall supervision of the Emergency Health Coordinator and under the direct supervision of the MHPSS Senior Project Assistant  the successful candidate will work closely with the MHPSS team to support the Program Unit in matters relating to monitoring and evaluation of MHPSS project in Oromia, Amhara, SNNP, Somali, and Tigray. In particular, he/she will:

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Support with facilitation and logistics of all trainings conducted by the MHPSS unit.
  • Assist with revision and informal translation of IEC materials related to the MHPSS unit.
  • Attend MHPSS technical working group to represent the unit when necessary.
  • Conduct punctual site visits to monitor MHPSS projects are progressing as reported and as per the agreed narrative, indicators and work plan.
  • Visit MHPSS teams and provide inputs on  their performance and reporting mechanisms according to the supervisor s checklists provided by the unit.
  • Compile and share weekly/monthly report to the MHPSS Senior Assistant, as well as success stories to feed into IOMs internal situation report.
  • Keep track and provide reports on any challenges and delays by MHPSS teams in the field.
  • Facilitate photo and video documentation of active projects for improved reporting and visibility
  • Contribute to update the partners mapping and share any changes with MHPSS staff, while keeping a record on the referrals.
  • Undertake any further duties as may be assigned by the MHPSS Officer.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Protection, Psychology, Development, or related Science field with 3 years of relevant experience is required.

Experience

  • Experience in the field of humanitarian protection work, specifically in service delivery of MHPSS services. Knowledge of PFA, child protection, CMR and SGBV with a good understanding of USAID funded programs and other UN Partners.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Technical skills in qualitative and quantitative evaluation and managing heavy data. 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively and persuasively present information in a variety of settings and formats.
  • Familiar with activity and grant reporting methods and information management systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with proven experience in Word, Excel and Power point.

Languages

  • Thorough knowledge of spoken and written English
  • Working knowledge of multiple local languages, such as Amharic, Somali, Afaan Oromo and other local languages is an advantage.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment and verification of residency, visa and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable.

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighbouring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.

As per IOM Salary Scale (G-5) – 1,322 USD
