Background
The Youth Network for Sustainable Development (YNSD) in partnership with Amref Health Africa implementing a USAID funded Integrated Youth Activity (Kefeta) in Adama and Bishoftu cities. Kefeta envisions Ethiopian youth who are game changers: empowered to advance their own economic, civic, and social development; resilient in the face of shocks; actively promoting development within their communities and contributing to the country’s peace and prosperity. Kefeta will strengthen the youth ecosystem in Ethiopia with integrated, multi-sectoral, youth-centered programming aligned with the Positive Youth Development (PYD) approach.
JOB SUMMARY
YNSD is seeking a Project Assistant to support implementation of its Integrated Youth Activity. The Assistant will provide programmatic and administrative support to the implementation. The candidate will coordinate with other staff members to implement the project, liaise with other stakeholders to facilitate implementation, coordinate trainings, workshops & meetings, assist in developing key program documents.
Duties & Responsibilities
Program Support:
- Facilitate and Coordinating with each program and operations team on expected deliverables and support activities implementation;
- Providing support to the team in facilitating city level project activities;
- Facilitate day-to-day operations of the project at city level and communicating with Cluster manager and project officer;
- Working closely with the relevant stakeholders in the implementation of Kefeta Project;
- ·Supporting the IYA project management in planning and work plan development;
- Supporting Youth Coalition and the youth hub to deliver quality services;
- Providing technical support, including organizing workshops and meetings.
- Participating and supporting monitoring & evaluation activities; and
- Supporting preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Provide assistance in analyzing , monitoring and reporting on implementation of the youth project /activities, monitor expenditures and disbursement to insure delivery is in line with approved budget
Administrative Tasks
- Plan and coordinate meetings, and document action items/ for next steps;
- Liaise with procurement department to facilitate procurement of program-related items;
- General administrative tasks, including filing, maintaining documents, updating presentations, and setting appointments;
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager and coordinator.
Qualifications & Experience
- BA degree in social sciences with at least three year experience;
- Enthusiastic in working collaboratively with the team;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in Afan Oromo and English.
- Good knowledge and understanding of project cycle management;
- Able to manage and organize responsibilities by establishing priorities.
- Ability to handle assignments under time constraints and meet deadline.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to learn quickly.
Technical and other skills
- Ability to facilitate and encourage collaborative teamwork, experience sharing, effective problem solving and conflict resolution;
- Ability to identify and propose solutions and innovative strategies;
- Proficiency in computer (Word processing, Excel; Power Point, email usage other social Medias ;
- Excellent written and verbal communication in Oromifa and English;
- Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality, and participatory approach and sustainable development.
