Purpose of the job
Production Manager oversees the production process and coordinates all activities to ensure enough resources on hand. They can plan workers’ schedules, estimate costs and prepare budgets to ensure workflow meets required deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Under the directive of the Operation Director, he/she plans, organizes, directs, schedules and coordinates the general production activities of the plant.
- Formulate effective, efficient, economical and safe methods to produce all the products of the plant.
- Assist the Operation Director concerning issues related to production as an acting Plant Manager.
- Plan raw material and other inputs required for the production of all products ahead of their minimum stock level (MSL) time and initiate the purchase or supply request to make sure that they are delivered on time.
- Prepare the production department Programs, SOPs, Operational formats and budgets, and implement them upon their respective approval.
- Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing the organization’s standards and code of conducts.
- Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements and also implement changes that would add value to the company’s growth, safety and profitability.
- Ensures that health and safety regulations are met in accordance with country’s& company’s health and safety procedures at all times.
- Review subordinate’s performances regularly, fills out their performance appraisal, train/capacitate them and support them to achieve their objectives in the company’s goals.
- Monitor the proper implementation of company’s policies and procedures at all times.
- Assist the HR team concerning the department’s recruitment and staffing activities.
- Accomplish other activities assigned to him/her related to the productivity and efficiency of the plant
Education
- Min requirement: Bsc Degree in Food Technology and process engineering and Food science.
Work experience
- 7+ years of experience managing a complex enterprise’s human resources, operations, or strategies
