Job Summary
As Plant Manager you have a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant operations at our mine site in Segele. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and productive processing and recovery of our gold ore while adhering to environmental regulations and company policies. The Plant Manager works closely with the other teams on site, including mine, maintenance, ESG, and Inventory / Procurement, to achieve operational excellence and meet production targets. Your workplace will be on site in Gambela province, Ethiopia.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Safety Management
Establish and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and best practices. Conduct regular safety meetings, training sessions, and drills to educate and empower employees about safety protocols. Implement and enforce safety policies to minimize accidents, injuries, and occupational hazards.
Operational Planning
Develop and execute short-term and long-term processing plans in alignment with company objectives and resource reserves. Collaborate with the mine management to design efficient processing schedules, optimizing productivity and gold recovery. Allocate resources, including equipment, personnel, and materials, to ensure a smooth operation.
Production and Efficiency
Oversee day-to-day plant operations to achieve production targets within specified timeframes. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency and implement improvements where necessary. Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce costs without compromising safety or quality.
Personnel Management
Recruit, train, and develop a skilled and motivated workforce to maintain a competent team.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide regular feedback to employees to enhance their professional growth. Address employee concerns, conflicts, and disciplinary matters in a fair and consistent manner.
Environmental Compliance
Ensure that plant activities adhere to environmental regulations and permit requirements.
Implement measures to minimize the environmental impact of the operations, such as waste and tailings management.
Budget and Cost Control
Develop and manage the mine department budget, tracking expenses and ensuring cost-effectiveness in close collaboration with Inventory Supervisor and Procurement. Analyze financial data and identify areas for cost optimization and resource allocation.
Emergency Response and Crisis Management
Develop and update emergency response plans to address potential mining-related incidents and crises. Coordinate responses to emergencies and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Education:
o Master’s degree in Mineral Processing, Industrial Processing, or a related field. Strong experience in the industry can make up for education.
Work Experience:
o Extensive experience in mineral processing with progressive responsibilities, including previous supervisory or management roles.
o Strong understanding of processing methods, equipment, and industry best practices.
o In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and environmental standards related to processing activities.
o Good leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
o Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities to address operational challenges effectively.
o Proven track record of meeting production targets and optimizing mining operations.
o Familiarity with budgeting and cost control.
o Ability to adapt to changing conditions and handle high-pressure situations.
Other: Work languages are Amharic and English, knowledge of both is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies Required
· You should be able to use basic software tools and learn new programs that will be used for mine planning etc.
