Established in 2003, Abyssinia Flowers is a pioneer in Ethiopian floriculture. With over 40 hectares of production in three locations, Abyssinia Flowers is Ethiopia’s largest summer flower producer.
In this role, the Import & Export Operations Supervisor will be working closely with Suppliers/customers, overseas offices, internal stakeholders, and third parties. This role will be responsible for planning the most appropriate route for a shipment, cost, transit time, and security of the cargos.
This position will report directly to the Office Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain involvement with the bookings from and to overseas, approve them and depending on the Suppliers/customer requirements, you will get involved with purchase order follow up.
- Monitor and coordinate the progress of each shipment daily to ensure that appropriate and timely communication is provided to the customers, carriers, and overseas offices regarding discrepancies, changes, or any issues that may directly affect the shipment and operations.
- Serve as the ultimate contact for the Suppliers and guide them during operational flow and make sure the freight moves efficiently through complex procedures.
- Coordinate with the third parties to move the cargo by ocean and air in accordance with requirements.
- Arrange the freight and customs releases.
- Plan the most appropriate route for a shipment, cost, transit time and security of the cargo.
- Follow the general guidelines for international trade and NBE directive, handle, insurance and other tasks which are related to that shipment.
- All other duties assigned
- Participate and assist pricing requests from current clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (supply chain & logistics or marketing or finance).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Familiarity with the customs regulations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a time and meet strictly enforced daily deadlines.
- Minimum of 2 years of import work experience if possible.
- Team player.
