Sodo-Buee Child and Family Development Charitable Organization (SBCFDCO) is an indigenous, non-governmental, non-profit, secular, legally registered Ethiopian resident charity organization working in partnership with ChildFund Ethiopia and dedicated to bring long lasting and sustained changes in the lives of disadvantaged children and youths through enhanced role of parents, youth and Children in three core programmatic areas, namely: Early Childhood Development (ECD), Basic Education and Youth Development.

Besides, currently SBCFDCO has started the implementation of the “Sustainable Food security project” for rural households for different project operational areas/ locations-Sodo, South sodo, East Meskan woredas, and Mareko special woreda of Central Ethiopia Region for Five years Period(October1, 2023–September30,2028)with the grant funding agencies-BMZ, ChildFund Deutschland, and ChildFund Ethiopia.
SBCFDCO is currently looking for qualified and experienced “Grant Finance Officer”- for the Sustainable Food Security grant project-who fulfils the following requirements.
Job Summary: –
This is one of a key position in the structure of the organization. The incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating, establishing and maintaining financial management policies and procedures for grants and other funds remitted to the organization by Donors. He/she ensure timely, accurate and useful financial information production and provide technical support to the Food Security Project Coordinator. He/she is responsible to ensure that organization’s financial management is in compliance with all regulatory requirements as relating to the SBCFDCO’s, donor(s) and country/government financial rules and regulations, and/or requirements in conjunction with the Project Coordinator, Finance & Admin Head, & Organization Manager.
Basic Responsibilities and Tasks
- Records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analysing account information regularly including recording/updating in Peach tree;
- Reconcile general ledgers, post journal entries, and assist with the preparation of financial statements
- Prepare schedules for quarterly reviews and year-end audit for independent external auditors;
- Ensure each Fiscal year project’s budget year beginning and ending balance;
- Assist external audit by analysing and scheduling general ledger accounts; providing information for auditors.
- Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
- Secures financial information by completing database backups.
- Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Follow-up monthly FRF and grant transferred and/received confirmation.
- Ensure that payment request documents are duly filled out and signed by the appropriate persons with the necessary and required supporting documents attached in compliance with all procedures and policies, donor requirements as well as the law of the country.
- Responsible for maintaining well organized filling systems for finance files and records and assist in
- retrieval of financial documentation whenever necessary.
- Ensure scanning and uploading of finance back up documents to Share Point in a timely manner;
- Ensure fuel budget and driven km log sheet of the Organization/project’s vehicle reconciled for each
- refilling of the fuel;
- Prepares quality periodic financial reports and submits to Finance and Administration Head. Organization manager and/or other concerned with in the expected reporting due date and as per the appropriate project’s Ffnance reporting template(s);
- Perform other duties as assigned by the organization/line manager.

Duty station:- Main Office, Buee town, East Gurage Zone, Central Ethiopia Region.
Required Number: One (1)
Term of employment: – Contract, and annually renewed based on performance
Qualification and Experience: –
- BA/MA degree from Recognized University/College in the field of Finance and/or Accounting plus work experience of minimum 4 years for BA and 2 years for MA is required;
- At least 2 years in NGO work experience is preferred.
Technical Knowledge/Skills and Competencies Required: –
- Well versatile with advanced accounting software such as Peach tree, accounting guidelines & Principles; International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) training is advantageous.
- Good application of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point and Outlook software;
- Ability to produce and implement clear financial procedures and evaluate the internal control environment.
