Women Empowerment-Action (WE-Action) is an indigenous non-political, non- religious, non-profit, humanitarian and development-oriented civil society organization working in Ethiopia to the improvement of the social, economic, and physical well-being of the poor women in particular and the community in general. Currently the organization is operating in three regions SNNPR Amhara National Regional States and Oromia National Regional State.

Currently, WE-Action is seeking to hire competent, qualified and interested candidate for Female applicants preferable.

Currently, We-Action is seeking to hire competent, qualified and interested female candidate for the position of Finance Officer who is responsible to for financial management of WE -Action project under operation.

General duties and responsibilities

  • Maintain and control the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reports and payroll.
  • Reconcile and follow up of financial statement and bank reconciliations monthly.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Review and implement financial policies.
  • Support the project coordinator in budget planning, modification and forecasting so that every team members so that support to all the head office and field office experts in the contract understands the budget resources available.
  • Provide technical financial management support to all the head office and field office experts in the contract so that they can manage the budget for their offices in a transparent and accountable manner:
  • Ensure that the program expenditure figures reconcile with those held by the contract partners.
  • In addition, ensure that the expenditure reported with your accounting record.
  • Ensure that financial reports have the required documentation before sharing these reports.
  • Prepare periodical financial report based on the operational manual and submit as per the agreed time frame.
  • Disseminate the approved quarterly financial reports to the partners together with the verification memo;
  • Facilitate internal and external project audits as per the contract requirements;
  • Facilitate project administration matters, such as procumbent and close out;

Report to: Finance Manager

Number of positions: 1 (One)

Duration: for One year with possibility of extension based on performance evaluation and availability of budget.

Educational Qualification and experience

  • BA degree in accounting, Finance and Economic with 4 years financial
    management experience of projects.
  • Strong financial report skill-excellent recording of financial transactions
  • Proven skills with computer based financial reporting is a must.
  • Experience with facilitation of external audits
  • Experience in handling SA project financial management has a bonus
  • Willingness to travel field offices as required.
  • Proven experience in establishing and mentoring healthy partnership with funding partners and other NGOs working in partnership.

Required Skills:

  • Peachtree software application is mandatory.
  • Good knowledge of Excel application skill is mandatory
  • Strong communication skills
  • Training on IPSAS is added value.
  • NGOs experience is preferable
