Sentinel Steel PLC was established in December 2013 with the purpose of setting up a hot rolling steel manufacturing plant in Ethiopia. It’s manufacturing facility is located in Bishoftu, Oromia State, Ethiopia. The company’s rebar manufacturing facility is intended to serve the burgeoning demand for quality steel in the local construction sector having a steel plant with an initial installed hot rolling capacity of 120,000 – 150,000 metric tons per annum (tpa).
Currently, the manufacturing facility is looking for qualified and ambitious experts for the following vacant position:
Summary of the Job
The Environmental Protection Expert (EPE) assesses the level, the type and the amount of pollution or threat of damage and analyze samples in an area of a factory plant and recommend solutions to find ways to prevent, protect, alleviate and fix or avoid the potential environmental threats associated with the factory operation.
Detail duties and responsibilities:
- Gives prompt action against potential or identified environmental protection threats associated with the factory operation,
- Manages the wastes and other residues of the factory resulted from work and manifesting/tracking hazardous and non-hazardous waste co products,
- Responds to emergency hazardous material spill/release incidents and enforce proper clean-up, hazardous waste disposal, and reporting procedures,
- Provides technical environmental farming and biological impact regulatory advice and guidance to environmental protection stake holders,
- Formulates a database to catalog inspections and track or notify for upcoming events,
- Maintains the original records of all inspections and training in accordance with the national environmental protection policies,
- Provides expertise in environmental protection issues to internal and external manufacturing team members,
- Prepares training plans, and execute hazardous waste operation procedures throughout the catchment area of the factory,
- Conducts meetings, on a professional level, to discuss environmental protection regulations, permit applications, and database design,
- Develops, implements, and maintains EP training programs that support facility operations,
- Develops methods and procedures to minimize and alleviate or avoid the negative impact of the factory operation on the environment,
- Prepares and reviews corporate environmental regulatory reports as required by the municipality of Bishoftu town and national EPA.
- Performs any other related duties ad required.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- BSc degree in Environmental Science or related Studies with 5+ years of relevant work experience in any Industries (Preferred Steel Industry).
Other requirements:
- Good communication skill, Physical strength, team leadership skill and strong service awareness.
- Perfection and detail orientation skill and proficiency in sensing environment.
Language Skill
- English and Amharic and or Afan Oromo,
