Pepsico/ Senselet Food Processing is a potato processing company in Ethiopia producing potato chips. It has been set up in accordance with European standards and knowledge and produces high quality potato crisps, branded as Sun Chips, that are sold locally in the Ethiopian market.

About the Role

The position shall involve planning, organizing, and supervising maintenance activities to ensure machine availability, reliability, and to always maintain the basic condition of machineries and equipment. Duties involve preparing maintenance checklists, collecting and analyzing checklists, preparing maintenance plans, controlling execution of plans, ordering spare parts, managing spare parts store, reporting stock levels, consumptions and maintenance execution. In addition, the job holder shall be a hands-on team member who should take part in maintenance activities, in RCFA and BDAs. 

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a safe environment for employees, contractors and visitors according to the applicable statutory, PepsiCo and local regulations, policies and procedures
  • Recognizes specific safety risks in daily work, proposes and implements improvement actions
  • Participates in and promotes company EHS campaigns to ensure personal safety and of colleagues at all times
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is always practiced in all areas
  • Implement food safety requirements and procedures at all times
  • Take immediate appropriate action and report food safety management system related problems to the right person/s
  • Creates yearly maintenance plan by matching maintenance requirements (standards) with factory production schedule and resources available
  • Plans and prepares work according to resource availability (people, tools, parts, machines)
  • Creates overhaul execution plan based on time and resources needed
  • Initiates purchase of spare parts and services needed for maintenance plan realization
  • Plans work of Maintenance department based on maintenance plan
  • Controls work order execution and initiates follow-up of work requests
  • Communicates with operations departments and facilitates planning decision making (e.g maintenance days)
  • Creates activity and machine-based overhaul execution plan and reports on works completion
  • Follows up on purchase of spare parts and services and adopts maintenance plan if necessary
  • Carries out routine maintenance and testing activities
  • Plans daily work with service providers, (by facilitating communication with production, utilities, etc)

Requirements

Education:

  • BSc and above in mechanical, electrical, industrial or electro mechanical engineering or related fields of study

Experience:

  • 5 years in FMCG, out of which 3 years as maintenance planner or on a similar role
  • Soft skills: Able to speak, read and write in English, Able to use and utilize MS office applications and be able to work on ERPs
