Responsibilities

Human Resources Strategies and Systems:

  • Develop, review, and implement comprehensive HR strategies, systems, and procedures ensuring effectiveness, fairness, and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures including recruitment, staff management, salary structure, benefits, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Conduct field visits to review HR and administrative procedures, ensuring compliance and providing support as needed.
  • Coordinate performance and talent management processes, including regular performance evaluations and exit interviews.

Recruitment and Staffing:

  • Lead recruitment efforts, including identifying staffing needs, preparing job descriptions, and conducting interviews.
  • Manage onboarding and orientation processes for new employees to foster positive engagement and alignment with organizational goals.

Staff Development and Training:

  • Assess training needs and provide appropriate induction, orientation, and ongoing development opportunities for staff.
  • Coordinate management training sessions on various HR-related topics such as performance review and workplace conduct.

Employee Relations and Wellbeing:

  • Act as a bridge between management and employees, addressing grievances and facilitating resolution of issues.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and create initiatives to promote employee wellbeing and team building.

Legal Compliance:

  • Ensure HR policies and procedures comply with federal and state laws, consulting legal counsel as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and legal requirements, advising management on appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.

Administration:

  • Establish and maintain personnel files, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of personnel transactions and benefits plans participation for government reporting.
  • Oversee the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or governing bodies.

Financial Management:

  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager to establish payroll structures and payment procedures.
  • Assist in budget planning related to HR responsibilities and maintain compliance with benefit providers.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Reporting to: Country Director

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in HR management roles, with a focus on developing and implementing HR strategies and systems.
  • Thorough understanding of Ethiopian labor laws and regulations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to bridge management and employee relations effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS software and MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Certification in HR management or related field is a plus.
