Services: Services will include various tasks in relation to the financial management of projects including:
- Ensuring finance and administration tasks for the organisation are carried out accurately and in compliance with the organisation’s management policies and procedures.
- Reviewing payment requests to verify that all the necessary supporting documents are available and that payments are for eligible expenditure as per project agreements.
- Liaising with payees regularly and ensuring their invoices are correctly registered into project budgets and accounting systems on an ongoing basis.
- Ensuring deadlines are met for closing of financial accounting each month, and updating project budgets as required.
- Undertaking credit card reconciliations related to Sudan Project expenses upon receipt of CC statements.
- Undertaking cash reconciliations for all project related payments on a monthly basis. Managing cash expenditure as requested by the Country Director.
- Undertaking bank/cashbook reconciliations as required.
- For events, Issuing daily subsistence allowance and making reimbursements for participants; undertaking travel cash reconciliations and closing them in a timely manner.
- Providing any additional support needed for monthly financial reporting.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving any issues that may arise in relation to financial management and administration, with support from the Senior Project Manager.
- Supporting during, and in preparation for, internal or external audits.
- Undertaking reasonable administrative or operational tasks, such as travel arrangements, as requested.
- Undertaking any reasonable administrative task related to the portfolio according to the deadlines indicated by the SPM and/or Country Director.
Duration: The duration of services will align with projects assigned to the Finance & Admin Officer and their expiry dates.
Hours of work: Full-time, totalling 37.5 hours per week. Exact working days will be agreed with the Country Director.
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Personal specification
- Essential skills, experience, and competencies:
- BA degree in Accounting, Finance or similar
- 3+ years of experience at finance or finance and admin officer level in the development or humanitarian sectors.
- Self-motivated
- Computer literate
- Good communication skills, including fluency in English.

Desirable:
- Arabic language skills.
