General Overview of Position: 
The English Language & Literacy Lead Teacher you will fulfill an essential role in the school by promoting literacy, including reading and writing strategies across all grade levels. The English Language & Literacy Lead Teacher will provide support for students below grade level standards and our Special Needs Students.  
You will have a passion for teaching and a deep understanding of early childhood, primary, and middle school education. As an English Language & Literacy Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for designing and implementing engaging lessons that foster language development, reading comprehension, and writing skills in students. 

The English Language & Literacy Lead Teacher reports to the Department of Learning & Development (DOLD) and participates as a member of the teaching staff. 
Aside for the above duties, the teacher will participate actively in the life of the school, by supporting extracurricular clubs and activities, and by participating in staff meetings, communicating constructively with administrators and colleagues, and helping to maintain a positive and friendly environment on campus. 
Position Specifics: 
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and implement an effective English language and literacy curriculum that aligns with the educational standards and objectives of early childhood, primary, and middle school levels.
  • Lesson Planning: Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate various teaching strategies, resources, and materials to support language development, reading comprehension, and writing skills.
  • Instructional Delivery: Deliver high-quality instruction using a variety of teaching methods and techniques to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom.
  • Literacy Assessment: Regularly assess students’ language proficiency, reading fluency, and writing skills to identify individual strengths and areas requiring improvement.
  • Individualized Support: Provide individualized instruction and support to students who require additional assistance in English language and literacy development.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning, where students feel valued and respected.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and monitor students’ progress and maintain accurate records of their academic performance, attendance, and behavior.
  • Parent Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians to provide updates on students’ progress, discuss areas of improvement, and address any concerns.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest teaching methods, educational research, and best practices in English language and literacy instruction through professional development opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and administrators to coordinate interdisciplinary activities, share resources, and ensure a cohesive educational experience.
Job Requirement & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, literacy, or related field
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years teaching experience at the elementary through middle school level
  • Strong knowledge of current literacy research and best practices
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience working with struggling readers and/or English Language Learners
  • Certification in reading or literacy instruction
  • Bilingual abilities
  • Experience with assessment and data-driven instruction
Reports to:  
  • The English Language & Literacy Lead Teacher reports to the Team Leader of Primary & Middle School and participates as a member of the teaching staff.
