Plan International’s first operation in Ethiopia started in Lalibela, in November 1974 and is currently implementing its program in Gambella, Benishangul-Gumuz, Afar, Oromia, Amhara, SNNPR, and Addis Ababa City Administration. Plan International Ethiopia will also continue low presence in Somali and Tigray. Furthermore, if there is a national-level emergency crisis in the country Plan International Ethiopia will respond quickly, effectively, and at a significant scale, even in areas where we are not present.

Role Purpose

The postholder is expected promote effective and efficient case management for individual vulnerable children, assist the multisectoral BHA project in delivering quality program, strengthen the quality of data collection, information sharing, and data protection as part of the child protection case management service and focusing on bringing better information management to protection sector, WASH, health and nutrition in the targeted woredas.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND MAIN WORK ACTIVITIES

·       Ensure the information on the individual case files registered under case management are safely and accurately entered to data base, and generate reports on a regular base

·       Review the quality of the data, identify any inconsistency and report the project team members and line manager for corrective and follow-up actions

·       Make sure each step of the case management process is maintained properly, and support the data collection process to ensure data quality at grassroot level

·       Responsible for ensuring all data protection and information sharing protocols are observed while managing information on child protection

·       Closely support the Child Protection Officers, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion Officers, Health and Nutrition Officers and Caseworkers including filling of the case management forms, data backups, and proper use of devices.

·       Managing and maintaining Woreda level information management to the level of high-quality standard

·       Provide induction to new case management staff joined CP and facilitate refreshing training, and on-job support on new features of the system.

·       Participate in weekly meetings concerning case management and related administration issues. Contributes to ongoing reflection and learning within the team to improve programme performance

·       Liaise with MEAL officers and Coordinator and customizes report tracking sheet for all activities under the four sectors (CP, WASH, Health and Nutrition

·       Alerts team members about recurring problems & communicates updates on issues in a timely manner to ensure productivity;

·       Entered data for baseline and end line survey for BHA project

·       Compile 5W and 4W reports of all the sectors

·       Perform data synchronization on weekly bases and share reports to the CP coordinator and Project Manager

·       Perform any other activities as delegated by line manager

 

Team Management, Safety and Security

  • Mentor, coach and technical support to CP case workers and community development facilitators in the execution of their duties.
  • Ensure teamwork spirit and staff have daily, weekly and monthly work plans.
  • Manage performance review of direct reporting staff.
  • Identify staff development gaps, and address them in consultation with the HR and OD Department.
  • Ensure staff to adhere core values of the organization in their day-to-day business activities.
  • Ensure teamwork and integration of WASH activities with Health and Nutrition and Child Protection activities.

 

Policy engagement and networking

  • Establish links and good relationships with relevant district government authorities, Community based structures, NGOs in the area of data management and information sharing for project efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Makes follow up and proper documentation and share of information across district health facility and child protection actors.

Partnership development and strengthening

  • Periodically collect project related and relevant information about other organizations working within the target districts to gain institutional knowledge of the environment.
  • Seeks opportunities for different kinds of partnership for enhanced quality project implementation.

Relationship Management / Communications

  • Assist and support the communication department in developing communication materials through adopting and contextualizing it and disseminating to identified target audiences, support the department in translating materials into local languages as necessary.
  • Collaborate and participate in effective knowledge and information management systems where the necessary Country Program Information is well documented and shared internally and externally as necessary.
  • Oversee outreach activities at program areas to support and raise awareness about the purpose of the project and any related opportunities.
  • Shall perform any other duties as assigned by his line manager, the BHA Project Manager at the Program Area/country Office.

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

·       Understand and put into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC).

·       Ensure that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.

Qualification/Experience essential:

  • Education at Bachelor’s Degree level or equivalent in Psychology, Statistics, Education Social science, Development studies, Statistics, Economics and related fields.
  • Excellent Planning, executing, and reporting skills
  • Practical knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methodologies
  • 3 and above years of relevant experience
  • Experience in supporting implementer partners to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the project and build their capacity in project management
  • Practical report writing skill
  • Practical experience in team working, capacity building, training and event management
  • Knowledge of strategic planning processes.

Experience desirable:

  • Sound understanding of integrated development issues and critical analysis of Youth employment and Sexual Reproductive Health
  • Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts.
  • Experience in child protection and safeguarding MERL system

Languages required

  • Fluency in English language is essential
  • Fluency in Local Language is a desirable
