SAMANU has significant interests across the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector in Ethiopia. It was established in 2014 to invest in local business under the consolidated platform.
SAMANU represents group of companies which are engaged in the business of manufacturing consumer-focused products in Ethiopia. Today these companies manufacture well-known brands for the Ethiopian market including Tena Oil, 555 and Aura Soap, Chef Luca Pasta and AquaSafe Mineral water from their facilities.
Job Summary
The Category Manager role is to define category growth and development strategy by managing the brands performance, executing brands annual marketing plan and monitoring key brands Financial KPI’s such as Sales, Margin, Cost and budget.
Some of the duties may include market research, pricing, product marketing, communications, consumer insights, New product and packaging development. The Category Manager ensures the organization’s message spreads across channels and to targeted audiences in order to meet sales objectives. He is also responsible for the development and execution of marketing and advertising campaigns.
Key Functions
- Marketing lead for the Home and Personal Care Category that includes 555 Home care Range, Aura Personal Care range other Home and Personal Care Brands as per company business development.
- Responsible for category, brand, and optimal category-based brand portfolio development and market share delivery as per agreed business plans
- Responsible for consumer insights generation to drive brand /category NPD /Innovation opportunities maximizes brand growth, brand distribution footprint, margin/mix programs, communications, brand support pla,ns and ongoing innovation pipeline
- Competitive landscape tracking for business insights and formulation of marketing programs to compete effectively in line with business capability
- Development of Brand Communications in line with Brand Footprint and associated strategy
- Develop, validate, document, and execute Group Innovation forum for alignment on priority growth projects and sustained business growth
- Timely and best-in-class execution of agreed marketing programs to be a strong market leader in both oils as well as soaps and detergents
- KPI Tracking and marketing reports for the Business Development Initiatives as well as any new launches
- Responsible for ATL and BTL budget and programs required to support the brands with key metrics to track return on investment
- Liaison with other functions- particularly with sales, supply, R&D, and finance for successful and financially viable execution of new products and marketing programs

Education Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent certification in Business, Marketing, Retail, or related fields
Experience
- 5+ years of extensive marketing experience as Brand Manager or Category Manager level in a relevant field.
