Positive action for Development (PAD) is an Ethiopian resident’s civil Society organization with active registration status at Federal Level. The organization initially licensed at Ethiopian Federal Democratic Charities and Societies agency on June 6/2011 with a registration number 2330.  The organization has also been re-registered and accorded legal personality with registry number 2330 on May 22, 2019 as Local Organization in accordance with the civil society organization proclamation No. 1113/2019.

Background

Positive action for Development (PAD) is an indigenous, non-governmental, humanitarian and development organization and legally registered at Federal level by Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Charities and Societies agency on June 6/2011 with a registration number 2330. The organization has also been re-registered and accorded legal personality with registry number 2330 on May 22, 2019 as Local Organization in accordance with the civil society Organization proclamation No. 1113/2019. PAD would like to hire qualified professional for the following position. 

Duties and responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities:

The Emergency/Humanitarian Project Coordinator is responsible for the overall implementation of humanitarian and emergency response project in a timely and quality manner in line with the project agreement and PAD’s humanitarian standard operating procedures and mandate.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Participates actively in humanitarian clusters meeting and technical working groups representing PAD humanitarian activities and interests.

  • responsibility for supervising and supporting the timely and effective implementation of Humanitarian and emergency projects and activities, including achieving set indicator targets and objectives and adhering to and related donor contractual obligations.
  • responsibility for the technical quality and standards for the implementation of Humanitarian and emergency grants across operational areas, in line with budgets and work-plans, focusing on producing the required deliverables
  • Conduct capacity building and/or mentoring activities for project staff and/or partners as required. More specifically, mentor staff involved in Emergency Response and support the enhancement of the Emergency Response Capacity of the Organization.
  • Conduct field visits to monitor implementation and consult with key stakeholders – and provide support to relevant members of the program team to ensure the timely and effective implementation of activities – determining gaps and needs and taking corrective measures within appropriate timelines.
  • Ensure that regular communication with donors to share updates on challenges and program progress takes place.
  • Provide leadership and take an active role in concept note and proposal writing and identify opportunities for future programming.
  • Take an active role in the monitoring of interventions; ensure the collation, analysis and sharing of data related to project activities and the overall context for the purpose of designing new interventions, and for donor advocacy and fundraising.
  • Support field teams in ensuring that robust monitoring systems are in place and reviews are undertaken periodically.
  • Lead on the development of project reports, including writing and providing data analysis for donor reporting and advocacy.
  • Lead on the strengthening of Emergency Response Capacity. Conduct workshops and ensure that a functioning roster of staff for Emergency Response is in place. Facilitate training when required.
  • Ensure all relevant PAD policies and procedures with respect to child safeguarding, safety and security, code of conduct, equal opportunities and other relevant policies are in place.

Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Wag-hamra Zone of Amhara Regional State and East & West Harargie Zone of Oromia Regional State  

Qualification:

  • BA or Masters degree and above in social sciences and other related field of study

Experience:

  • At least 6 years relevant experience in humanitarian sector of which 3 years at managerial position

Skills Required, Attitudes and Attributes:

  • Experience of working in a leadership position within a team structure
  • Proven skills in managing staff reporting to her/him; excellent coordination skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Proven program & project cycle management skills – proposal and report writing skills; monitoring and evaluation skills and experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Knowledge and experience of emergency and development issues; deep understanding of causes of emergencies, emergency programming and links with policy
  • Ability to link with other players in the development arena and represent PAD effectively
  • Ability to analyses and communicate complex information to a wide audience
  • Proven knowledge of computerized system; high degree of computer literacy and word processing and spreadsheet skills essential
  • Ability to work under pressure, priorities well and meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel extensively, especially to remote areas
  • Experience in and the ability to train, coach, mentor people
