About TIMRAN
TIMRAN is a civil society organization established in March 2020 with the objective of enhancing women participation in key socio-political decision-making processes. TIMRAN’s vision is to see Ethiopia as a country where women take their legitimate space in the public decision-making arena and the nation’s political affairs. Our mission is to work towards the enhancement of Ethiopian women’s active engagement in political and public leadership to ensure their constitutional right to equal participation in the nation’s political, social, and economic undertakings.
About Coalition for Women’s Voice in the National Dialogue-CWVND
- TIMRAN serves as a secretariat for CWVND since 2022
- CWVND has 56 member Civil Society Organizations in all regions of Ethiopia.
Objectives of Coalition
- The coalition has an objective to ensure women’s representation in the Ethiopian national dialogue.
- To create awareness of the Nation of inclusive national dialogue and identify the agenda of women throughout the country.
Background:
The Coalition for Women’s Voice in the National Dialogue aims to promote inclusive women’s representation and gender equality in the national dialogue process. As part of this effort, the coalition has collected various inputs, ideas, and agendas of women from different regions in Ethiopia. The coalition is seeking a consultant to review and consolidate the agendas, to compile and synthesize the inputs into a comprehensive and cohesive agenda.
Objectives:
The objectives of this assignment are as follows:
- To consolidate the inputs, ideas, and priorities of women in Ethiopia.
- To synthesize these inputs into a comprehensive and cohesive agenda that reflects the collective priorities and needs of the women with respect to gender bases.
Scope of Work:
The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Review international practices of similar issues
- Reviewing and analyzing the inputs (videos, minutes and other documents) collected from 12 regions and 2 city administrations of women’s by the CWVND
- Identifying common themes, priorities, and areas of consensus among the inputs.
- Consolidating the inputs into a comprehensive agenda document that outlines the women’s priorities and recommendations.
- Ensuring that the agenda reflects a gender-responsive and inclusive approach, taking into account the diverse perspectives and needs of women in Ethiopia.
- Presenting the consolidated agenda to the CWVND secretariat, steering committee and working group for feedback and validation.
- Presenting the consolidated agenda on the validation workshop which will be organized by the coalition.
- Incorporating the feedback received from the coalition’s members into the final version of the agenda document.
Deliverables:
The consultant will be expected to deliver the following:
- A consolidated agenda document that reflects the women’s priorities and recommendations
- A presentation summarizing the key findings and recommendations of the agenda document.
- A final version of the agenda document incorporating feedback received from the CWVND
Timeline:
- The assignment is expected to be completed within 10 workings days and the timeline will be tentatively starting from 4th week of January to 1st week February, 2024.
Reporting:
- The consultant will report to the CWVND secretariat.
Remuneration:
The remuneration for this may be negotiated and agreed upon based on the qualifications and experience of the agenda consolidator.
Payment modality
- Phase 1: 20 % upon signing of the contract
- Phase 2: 40% upon approval of preliminary report by the Client
- Phase 3: 40 % upon approval of final report by the Client
Qualifications and Experience:
The consultant should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Strong knowledge and understanding of national dialogue (ND) or dialogues and gender inclusiveness.
- Experience working with coalitions or similar multi-stakeholder groups on gender equality and women’s rights issues.
- Excellent analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to identify common themes and prioritize inputs.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with the national dialogue process and women’s participation in Ethiopia is an advantage.
- Valid business license for 2016 Ethiopian Fiscal Year
