VIS – Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo,  is a non-governmental organization that deals with development cooperation and international solidarity and an educational agency that promotes and organizes awareness-raising, education, training for development and global citizenship.

The association, founded in 1986 on the promotion of the National Center for Salesian Works (CNOS), is inspired by the message of St. John Bosco and his preventive educational system. It operates in 40 countries around the world, in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Europe. "Together, for a possible world" indicates the intention to network in Italy, Europe and the rest of the world to improve the living conditions of girls, boys, young people in vulnerable conditions and their communities, in the conviction that through education and training the causes of extreme poverty can be tackled at the root. The VIS has the special status of an advisory body recognized by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) .

It is accredited by ECHO, the Directorate-General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection of the European Commission. It is also part of an international network of Salesian-inspired NGOs, the Don Bosco Network (DBN), as well as of numerous other national and international networks operating in the field of cooperation.

 JOB SUMMARY 

The Cashier secretary will provide support to projects implementation, guaranteeing quality, efficiency and effectiveness.

·         Handle bank and cash accounts of several funding sources for project activities at Project level

·         Handle incoming and outgoing letters, Keeping all files in order and responsible to Documentation handling.

·         Make bank reconciliations as well as cash account reconciliations, Cash Book and Actual physical cash count balances monthly.

·         Prepare journal voucher

·         Carry out cashier functions with daily checking of payments against the cash/bank book entries; ensure that all payment vouchers, invoices, receipts and supporting documents (e.g. training or workshop support letters from the organizations’, registration and attendance sheets) are valid and approved before payment and recording.

·         Check and sign journal vouchers

·         Prepare cheque and sign responsible person and other related activity

·          Ensure timely payment of utility bills and tax bills.

·         Prepare income tax and withholding tax payments

·         Follow-up on un-settled items and initiate settlement

·         Follow-up with the bank on transfers made to regions.

·         Prepare payment and internal transaction vouchers and record in accounting software 

·         Compile, prepare and submit complete financial documents in time manner.

·         Ensure that financial files are labeled and filed according to VIS regulation.

·         Provide required documents for an auditor whenever Internal or External Control is conducted.

Job Requirements

Expertise:

·         Diploma or BA degree in Accounting, Secretarial Science and Office Management, Office administration, Information Technology and related fields of study from a recognized College/University;

·         At least 4 years for Diploma and 2 years for BA holders with demonstrated professional experience in NGO working in an office environment in a clerical or administrative role;

·         Proficiency in typing, word processing, data entry into online databases and forms, and use of a variety of office tools (Microsoft office – Excel, word processing, power point and other programs Software square).

·         Excellent skills in communicating, proactive, resourceful, and interpersonal skills;

·         Very good language skills (English, and other local languages like Amharic and Tigrigna)

·         Ability to take the initiative, multi-task, prioritize work and meet deadlines.

·         Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and stressful situations.

10,000-13,400 birr based on educational qualification and experience
