 The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), an international non-governmental organization (NGO), has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. DRC promotes and supports solutions to the problems faced by refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and migrants. The organization has offices across the region, and has been operational in Ethiopia since 2009.  With funding from bilateral and multilateral donors, DRC is currently implementing a range of activities across Ethiopia, including WASH and shelter provision, child and youth protection, gender based violence response, awareness-raising of migration risks, protection monitoring of migration routes, and livelihoods support for returning migrants or those at-risk of migration.

The organization has offices across the region and has been operational in Ethiopia since 2009.  With funding from bilateral and multilateral donors, DRC is currently implementing a range of activities across Ethiopia, including WASH and shelter provision, youth protection, gender-based violence response, awareness-raising protection monitoring and livelihood support for vulnerable communities affected by conflicts and shocks.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The department “Grants, Project development and Project Quality” oversee the aspects of grants management, strategic positioning, fundraising and quality insurance, in coordination with the Head of Programs, colleagues from the program unit in Country office (technical coordinators, MEAL) and colleagues from the program team and areas managers in the field. The department also closely works with the support services (finance, HR, logistics and compliance).

Under the management of the PDQ Manager, the Grants Coordinator supports the aspects of Grants development and management. She/ he also participate in internal and external coordination mechanisms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Grants management

  • Responsible that the project team understand contract and DRC’s grant management process through presentation and trainings. 
  • Follow up the reception of partnership contracts and review them before signature. Monitors the various stages of contract management in accordance with DRC and donor guidelines.
  • Draft Memorandum/ Letter of Understanding documents for all donor projects. Communicate with key stakeholders regarding new projects and ensure timely signature. Coordinate the provision of notes/briefings/reports/evaluation to external bodies requesting information on DRC project activities.
  • Properly fill grants related information in DRC ERP software (Dynamics) and the documentation on SharePoint.
  • Participate in writing and sharing external reports. Ensure donors report are in line with DRC and Donor’s guidelines and quality standards and are submitted on time. Coordinate and support the design, development, and submission of contract amendments in coordination with program and support colleagues.

Strategic positioning

  • Support if required the development and maintaining of strategic partnerships.
  • Participates in General/ Cross sectoral coordination meetings and share minutes with the colleagues.

Fundraising

  • Maintains a good understanding of the strategies and interests of donors present in the country. updates the Donor Follow up based on the donor meetings that the various people carry out and the shared reports.
  • Keeps the schedule of funding opportunities up to date, and monitors calls for project proposals on the various donor platforms. Support the development of the fundraising strategy.
  • Support the development of project proposals in coordination with the manager

Programmatic quality insurance

  • Support the Manager and Head of Programs in the aspects of programmatic quality insurance upon request.

  •   Strong literacy in Microsoft packages with knowledge of Adobe products is a distinct advantage
  •  Experience with external communication and coordination and organization of training is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of Projects and sectors of protection, food security and economic recovery and wash is an advantage

EDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.

  • Master degree in international relations, journalism, law, or a related field

LANGUAGE: (indicate fluency level)

  • Knowledge of other local languages an asset

USD 1,001 – 1217 per month which specific amount will be determined upon the candidate’s experience and educational relevancy
