Main purpose of the job:
The Mechanical Maintenance Specialist is the go-to person to maintain and restore the basic condition of assets and is expected to be resourceful enough to take the right course of action and make the right decisions in the maintenance department. The Mechanical Maintenance Specialist will also be tasked with identifying ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs through better maintenance practices. The responsibility of a Mechanical Maintenance Specialist also includes standardizing maintenance practices and developing procedures and work instructions.
The position shall involve executing preventive maintenance tasks to ensure machine availability, reliability, and to always maintain the basic condition of machineries and equipment. Duties involve doing running and nonrunning checklists, participating and enabling CILT, conducting RCFAs and BDAs, preventing failures, reporting findings and taking care of company assets to eliminate costly failures. The Maintenance Specialist is also responsible to use spare parts, when necessary, take care of tools and maintain the condition of the workshop and spare parts store.
Accountabilities:
General
- Create and maintain a safe environment for employees, contractors and visitors according to the applicable statutory, Company’s and local regulations, policies and procedures
- Recognizes specific safety risks in daily work, proposes and implements improvement actions
- Participates in and promotes company EHS campaigns to ensure personal safety and of colleagues at all times
- Ensures Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is always practiced in all areas
- Implements food safety requirements and procedures at all times
- Take immediate appropriate action and report food safety management system related problems to the right person/s
- Build continuous improvement culture; TPM, 5S and RCFA, BDA implementation
- Drive TPM implementation in area of responsibility
- Improve performance tracking and data registration in alignment with Company PMP
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Maintenance Processes Management
- Prioritizes work and utilizes resources to overcome problems in day-to-day operations
- Manages maintenance processes by using process related KPIs. Uses targets as reference and measures performance
- Seeks improvement opportunities and collaborates with stakeholders to improve performance
- Implements TPM PM and APM improvement routes, tools and methods in everyday department culture and influences people behavior
- Develops standards and work instructions to be used in the department and ensures stakeholders are clear about scope of their engagement with equipment and machinery
- Implements maintenance strategy improvement projects set from outside or above
Maintenance engineering and equipment maintenance execution
- Identifies spare parts needed for planned maintenance based on information available on the part and machine documentation (e.g. parts lists, drawings)
- Accurately records all maintenance measurements (e.g. temperature, speeds, current, physical wear)
- Prepares and executes overhaul plan in his/her area, identifies risks, mitigates and escalates as necessary
- Drives OTIF execution of all maintenance work in his/her area
- Keeps overview of machine performance in his/ her area and initiates maintenance improvement actions to address losses (e.g. modification to equipment or PM plan)
- Is a technical all-rounder with a high level of ability in chronic complex failure identification and successful execution of repairs; takes on complex technological problems
- Improves maintenance plan by using engineering knowledge, machine condition, current performance and equipment history
- Improves list of recommended spare parts by using machine knowledge, current performance, equipment history and engineering knowledge
- Drives RCFA and BDA
- Standardizes maintenance activities and gives feedback to planner
- Makes sure that all equipment is functioning properly and performs regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance
- Repairs or replaces damaged equipment or components, such as motors and bearings
- Coordinates with contractors to schedule repairs or replacements when necessary
- Focuses on prevention over reacting to failures

Experience & skills required
Education:
- BSc and above in mechanical or electromechanical engineering or related fields of study
Experience:
- 7 years in a manufacturing industry preferably in FMCG, out of which 4 years as PM technician or engineer or related role. Should have proven problem-solving skills, broad technical knowledge, attention to detail, knowledge of and ability to install, repair and maintain wide range of mechanical installations
Language:
- Able to speak, read and write in English

- Advanced level in MS Excel and use of computer applications and ERP tools
