Job Summary:

A librarian is in charge of assist students in locating and selecting desired or needed books, periodicals, pamphlets, materials, or technology support. Instruct students in library science, appropriate student behavior, and use of technology. Oversee the selection, organisation, and distribution of materials and equipment.     

 

Main Duties:

·        Develop and implement library policies and strategic goals.

·        Acquisition of selected and relevant information resources.

·        Providing current awareness services.

·        Cataloguing and classification of information resources.

·        Promote and foster a culture of reading for enjoyment.

·        Maintain the library as a center of learning and inquiry for the school.

·        Checking out and checking in of information materials.

·        Providing reference and referral services to users.

·        Bibliographic searching and retrieval through bibliographic checks and searches.

·        Conducting user surveys to gauge user satisfaction.

·        Responding to daily on site requests for information.

·        Maintaining the school library integrated system.

·        Prepare necessary report.

·        Teach library skills to pupils.

·        Encourage active participation of teachers and students in accessing resources.

·        Perform other duties within the scope of employment, experience, and certification as assigned by your supervisor.

 •       First degree in Library Science or related fields

•       Minimum of 2 years of related experience

•       Experience in the school environment has an advantage

•       Solid communication skills, English/both written and verbal

•       Good interpersonal skills
