Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Implement and develop logistics and custom clearance strategies
- Develop capable third-party transporter for the assigned division
- Prevent delays/queues at brewery/warehouses through logistics planning and truck allocation together with the distribution manager.
- Assure neatness/representative look of company-owned fleet and drivers
- Guarantee 0 preventable downtime in truck operations by arranging backup trucks.
- Track and document service requirements and tire and fuel usage. Work with the fleet manager for frequent maintenance of company-owned primary transport.
- Monitor trip durations and develop ‘ideal’ trip duration goals for supply from the factory to various locations in the assigned division.
- Track, check, and approve overtime payments to truck drivers.
- In charge of all aspects of the business including rate negotiations, vendor relations, and vendor analysis plus will be responsible for all modes of transport and international logistics.
- Collect and check the original shipping documents from the Procurement department for submission to Customs and make sure all documents are available before the arrival of goods at the port.
- Responsible for verifying dates of shipment & inspection, receiving pre-production samples, approval of the packaging, payment procedure, and handling all shipment documentation.
- Follow up with the freight forwarder to get original B/L & delivery orders, freight invoices, etc.
- Prepare authorization to clear agents and customs authorities to clear shipments.
- Follow up with our clearing agents on the status of all shipments under clearance and report it to the Procurement Manager on daily basis.
- Prepare undertaking documents / Shipping guarantees to customs authorities in case of document shortage or delay and follow up with the clearing agents to close it.
- Request for payment for clearing agents and advance payment for high-value shipments.
- Follow up with clearing agents until the arrival of goods at our warehouse.
- Control of the transportation budget
- Minimize/eliminate the demurrages
- Insure having more than one third-party transporter
- Insure having at least 2 reliable forwarders
- Review and approve shipment documentation before shipping from the supplier to avoid any delays in the shipments
Required Education/Experience and Key Skills
- At least a BA degree in supply chain/logistics/accounting
- At least 4 years of experience in a busy Manufacturing setting (FMCG experience is a plus).
- Background in logistics/supply chain/procurement/warehouse-related operations
- Experience/fluent with company resource management systems (ERP/SAP)
- Fluent in English
- Sociable/good communicator
- Highly advanced computer skills, especially with regard to Excel
- Investigative nature/good with numbers
