About the project – Youth Speak Up
Youth Speak up project is implementing by ECO in Harari region with the financial support of the Civil Society Support Program ( CSSP II). It is designed in a way to esteem youth voices through strengthening the Capacity of the youth and youth focused organizations, community structures, women and people with disability associations and other stakeholder with necessary skills and understanding of the subject matter for the youth to be more effectively engaged.
The overall objective of the “youth Speak Up” project aims to contribute for the meaningful engagement and participation of the youth in Harari region (both young men and women) in all the arena of peace building, conflict prevention and community development process. Thus, aims to contribute for the rising up voice of the youth; ensure and acknowledge their participation in decision- making processes so that the youth can commit their potential in the regional peace building and community development process.
About the Role
The Project Officer is sought to provide short-term and need-based technical leadership and strategic vision for ECO youth speak up project on its support to and engagement with young people both at partner and programme level. The Project Officer is responsible for developing youth engagement strategy and responsible for the successful implementation of the project in Harari region and lead the design and implementation of interventions on youth voice and engagement issues. S/he will review and analyze relevant background documents on youth issues for better programming and evidence-based engagement. The candidate is responsible for stakeholders and partnership management both government bodies and youth focused CSO’s; building the capacity of the youth and youth focused organizations. The role holder is also responsible to capture and document lessons and learnings from Programme’s investments on the issues of young people and will lead on the facilitation of learning and evidence-based engagement with government and other stakeholders.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- – Design and lead implementation of program initiatives that prepare youths for meaningful engagement.
- – Design standardized guidelines for program interventions to enable the youth to be knowledgeable about and able to make their voices to be heard
- – Develop and implement strategies to support the youth in a healthy transition into adulthood and help young adults effectively support their current and future families.
- – Produce intervention strategies to enable youths to make informed decisions that promote their economic, physical and social well-being.
- – Develop strategies and interventions to promote youths accepting their role as participants in their community and local economy.
- – Design strategies and guidelines to promote the involvement of the youth in program assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation and promote youth participation.
- – Organize and facilitate training programs for project staff, community and partners in providing appropriate support to promote skilled and involved youth.

Employment: Fixed Term Contract ( 5 months)
Qualification Requirement:
- -BA degree in project management, developmental studies, social science or related field. MA/ MBA in relevant field will be desirable
- Experience More than 10 years
- Knowledge of local language (Harari, Oromifaa) will be an asset
- -NGO experience in projects/program or donor funded projects in government
- – Basic computer skills such as MS word, MS Excel, etc
Per ECO Salary Scale
