Bopinc is looking for a structured, proactive team member with proven agricultural experience, who can contribute to an Agri-Food Innovation program in Ethiopia funded by a leading international donor.
The role
Agri-Food Industry Organizations (AFIOs) have been driving inclusive transformation of the agricultural sector for decades and are well established to address future challenges of the sector including population growth, increasing food quality standards, urbanisation and climate change.
Bopinc will lead a 5-year accelerator program for AFIOs in Ethiopia, Ethiopia and Tanzania that aims to:
- Create a vibrant network of interconnected AFIOs
- Effectively capitalise on market opportunities through the identification and support of joint opportunities for growth.
- Champion Inclusive Agricultural Transformation (IAT) so that value chains are more inclusive and benefit smallholder farmers, women and other excluded groups.
Responsibilities
- Lead execution of project plan in Ethiopia, working in coordination with two implementing partners and Bopinc technical advisors from global offices.
- Conduct research, including developing research tools and methodology, desk research, conducting interviews and focus group discussions with diverse stakeholders from management to small-scale producers, data collection and analysis.
- Lead strategy workshops with senior management / leadership teams and provide follow-up to support to document and implement strategies.
- Provide technical assistance to AFIO’s selected for the Accelerator, supporting them to test new innovations that contribute to inclusive agricultural transformation.
- Contribute to writing reports and publications for external stakeholders, including the donor and government agencies.
- Organise and lead regular events that convene key stakeholders in the agriculture sector, government and private sector.
Qualifications
- Ethiopian national with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in agriculture, development economics, business administration
- Proven experience in the agribusiness sector in Ethiopia. Experience in Agri-food policy/advocacy is a plus
- Experience working on agricultural development/transformation projects funded by international donors
- Experience conducting agriculture-related research
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and local language(s)
- Ability to lead and facilitate engaging workshops with diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders; government, development players, large multinationals, rural small entrepreneurs;
- Ability and willingness to travel to project countries and remote (rural) places.
