Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
The USAID Eliminate TB Project is a five-year USAID-funded project with the goal of reducing TB incidence and mortality by improving the quality, access, utilization, and sustainability of TB services in Ethiopia. This project builds on the work of previous USAID activities (Challenge TB, HEAL TB, TB Care, and others) that have been supporting the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Program (NTLP) to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and STOP TB milestones. The Project support focuses on improving access and utilization to quality and patient-centred comprehensive TB services.

MSH collaborates with local partners, from Ministries to communities, to strengthen and complement existing health systems. Since 1971, MSH has worked in more than 150 countries to help and ensure sustainable, resilient, and equitable access to quality health care around the globe.
In addition to the routine operational research activities of the USAID Eliminate TB project, the project has a research project named as Eliminate TB demonstration study. The USAID/Eliminate TB project is looking for Senior Data Manager and Analyst who will be responsible for preparation of data collection tool, conducting data management, visualization, and analysis.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
The data manager is responsible for preparation of data collection tools, management of data; detailed analysis and reporting of data related to project activities.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Development of data collection tool for the project and Eliminate TB demonstration study
- Lead the proper data collection of project deliverables including demonstration study data
- Ensure timely and complete reporting of data from project supported regions, zones, woredas, health facilities and communities.
- Support data verification and ensure data quality of the project data
- Conduct in systematic data analysis and preparation of data visualization products of the project including the eliminate TB demonstration study
- Ensure digital and hardcopy data are protected from security breaches and data losses Prepare data and information for project technical documents such as case studies, technical highlights, technical briefs, manuscripts, and other research reports.
- Building the capacity of government and project staff on data management and analysis
- Develop data analysis templates, work with M&E team — advisors and officers– in developing template for detailed analysis.
- Carry out any such duties as may be assigned by the Research Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Statistician by background and Master’s in Public Health, Epidemiology or related areas preferred.
- At least 7 years of relevant work experience in public health; specifically, on TB, TB/HIV program, data management and/or related field epidemiology activities in Ethiopia.
- Deep understanding and knowledge of data management particularly in TB, TB/HIV, MDR TB
- Familiar with the national digital HMIS system.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and organize large amounts of data
- Published a minimum of one original article as primary author in well recognized peer reviewed journals.
- Demonstrated progressively increasing levels of responsibility.
- Excellent analytic skills coupled with proven ability in using visuals like graphs, charts, maps, and GIS.
- Excellent ability in using data systems like EPI-Info, SPSS, SAS, DHIS2 or other software for reporting and analysis
- Must have extensive knowledge in collaboration, learning and adapting concepts to health projects.
- Experience working in USG supported projects.
- Knowledge of and experience in training and capacity building.
- Experience establishing data quality assurance systems.
- Fluency of English in reading/writing/speaking is required.
