As Qualitative Research Analyst you will be involved in designing, managing and conducting qualitative data collection as well as data analysis for development evaluations C4ED is carrying out. Your tasks will include: 

  • Designing and planning qualitative research strategies in cooperation with clients 

  • Developing qualitative research instruments (for instance, interview and focus group topic guides) for use in evaluation studies 

  • Collecting and/or supervising qualitative data collection, for instance, through key informant interviews, focus groups, in-depth interviews, and observations 

  • Delivering training sessions on qualitative research methods 

  • Analyzing qualitative data 

  • Preparing policy briefs, reports, and scientific publications 

  • Contributing to applications for projects and grants 

  • Project management, which will include time management as well as managing external consultants 

  • Assigning work packages to internal or external assistance

You have a Bachelor’s, a Master’s degree or a PhD in in social sciences (e.g. anthropology, sociology, psychology), international development or a related field, with extensive training and experience in qualitative data collection and analysis. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and experience with report writing. You are detail-oriented, adept at multitasking and can work under pressure. Experience with working in projects is desirable. Knowledge of software used for qualitative analysis (e.g. MAXQDA, NVivo) is required and familiarity with statistics is desirable. 

Skills in empirical analysis and/or conducting field surveys and large-scale data collection in developing countries would be a plus. 

While you will be working in a team, you are able to manage multiple tasks and propose solutions in a timely manner with minimal supervision. 

You enjoy interacting with a wide range of individuals ranging from researchers over donors to data collection staff, and you are able to maintain good collaborations. As we are working internationally, excellent oral and written communication skills in English are essential.
