We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for Specialist, IMS and CS Support  CS, CN ,SS7,MMS Engineer within the Technology and Network Operations Function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

 Detailed Description 

Reporting to Manager – Core Operations, the role holder will be responsible for the operations, support and maintenance of the Voice Core (CS and IMS) network elements to support Company business requirements.

Accountabilities, Competencies & KPIs

Detailed description of Role:

  • Responsible for the management of all maintenance and operations of Core Switch products in Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia’s network, namely: MSS, MGW, CSCF, A/I-SBC, TAS, ENUM and MRF
  • Responsible for the support and maintenance of roaming partners for Prepaid and Postpaid  GSM, GPRS, 3G,LTE  (IN and OUT bound Roaming).
  • Overall responsibility for Core Voice support of vendor related new products, services and software.
  • Responsible for the day to day management of suppliers of the voice core systems.
  • Responsible for the management of correct maintenance procedures and processes.
  • Monitoring of various related KPI’s to ensure optimal operations.
  • Execute policy compliance checks on all Core Voice Service systems and solutions
  • Maintain very high systems availability in Core Voice Network domain
  • Monitor and check configuration changes on all Core Voice Networks elements and services as planned
  • Implement and maintain security standards and policy compliance on the Core Voice Networks systems
  • Monitor and check all software patches and releases to all Core Voice Systems
  • Act as Opersations SPOC for the Voice Core network
  • Troubleshoot roaming issues as per requests from the wholesale team.
  • Monitor and maintain interconnect traffic routing based on the best route identified by the commercial team.
  • Provide weekly reports and recommendations to management
  • Vendor and other stakeholders management

Skills & Abilities Required

Knowledge and skills:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in systems maintenance and support ,system integration techniques, system engineering, systems management, and KPI reporting.
  • Strong knowledge in SIP, SIGTRAN (SS7), and DIAMETER protocols
  • Sound understanding of GSM/3G/LTE/5G architecture with respect to Core Networks
  • Solid understanding of IP networking and related technology
  • Knowledgeable in Network Function Virtualisation infrastructure (NFVi)
  • Entry to intermediate level – Linux/unix
  • Experience in fault management and resolution in a telecommunications environment
  • Experience with Nokia core systems will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of VoWifi will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and must have prior knowledge on how to escalate network issues.

 

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

  • Degree in one of the following: Telecommunications Electronic Engineering or Computer Science
  • Minimum 5 years of Core network maintenance / planning and engineering experience in a wireless environment either with a carrier or a vendor/consulting firm serving this industry
  • Experienced with Incident and Problem Management practices and processes.
