Job Summary
The Policy and Research Coordinator is generally responsible for enhancing compliance with mandatory requirements and to expand legal operating space for CCRDA and its members towards a sustainable development. The post holder strengthens the policy and research function of the Consortium by assessing and identifying policies and legal provisions that have direct relevance to the organization and its constituencies, undertakings research, analyses those policies, and identify gaps, proposes alternative solutions, and creates awareness. In collaboration with other relevant units, it facilitates and co-organizes policy round table dialogues with concerned bodies ensures the necessary amendments. The incumbent also researches global and national development priorities and informs the organization and its members to ensure programmatic and operational relevance. The incumbent provides technical assistance to research and policy components embedded within specific projects of the organization. The post holder will closely work with research think-tank groups, the Executive Director and various work units.
Responsibilities of the Policy and Research Coordinator
- Enhances strategic thinking by forming a professional Think-tank group that would generate and critique policy matters, development ideals, models, tools and practices that would accelerate development.
- Identifies new relevant policies and amendments and creates awareness for CCRDA and its members.
- Assesses the strength and limitations of existing policy issues considering how they affect the public and CSOs and informs and engages the relevant bodies.
- Monitors events, policy decisions and trends and other issues with implications for the policy landscape.
- Forecasts political, economic, and social trends.
- Organizes round-table policy dialogues with key stakeholders including policy makers.
- Defines and proposes theory of change and development
- Write reports, publish findings, and give presentations and make sure it is well disseminated to the relevant audiences.
- Carries out additional responsibilities as deemed necessary
- Overall, responsible for policy research activities of the organization
Report to: Director, Partnership & Networking
Experience:
- University graduate with Master’s Degree in Public Management & policy, research, social development, international development, good governance, development economics, or law with 6 years of experience two of which should be in policy analysis & research activities with senior position.
- University graduate with Bachelor’s Degree in Public Management & policy, research, social development, international development, good governance, development economics, or law with 8 years of experience two of which should be in policy analysis & research activities with senior position.
