The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.

The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI reorganized by the decree of the Council of Minister’s Regulation No. 376/2016 as biomedical research, clinical trial and research capacity building under the Federal Ministry of Health. AHRI, over its 50 years in service, is well known for its hub function for skill and technology transfer and partnership embracing research agendas with direct impact in the development and transformation of population in Ethiopia and beyond.
The genomics and core laboratory facilities division is one of the departments in the institute. and is looking for self-driven, motivated, innovative and energetic researchers to join our team as Associate Researcher I with cancer immunology experience.
Roles and responsibilities:
– Cascading general plan of the directorate, perform a detailed weekly, monthly and yearly plan
– Conduct research, in accordance with the purpose of the study, store and record samples according to the correct storage policy
– Perform laboratory-based activities using different techniques. Prepares Medias and working reagents according to the recommendation of study protocols
– Participate in preparation of guidelines, manuals and standard operating procedures relevant to her/his assigned activities as well as updating available documents
– Shall be involve in internal and external quality control activities working collaboratively to be accredited by the accreditation agencies.
– Use supplies and reagent appropriately with minimal wastage and using the supply management principle of the organization.
– Verify laboratory findings, report to researchers and insure proper storage system of analyzed specimens or aliquots
– Assist with monitoring activities, ensuring safety and maintenance guidelines for daily laboratory activities, follow up on a list of laboratory equipment
– Assist researchers as requested
– Assisting laboratory visitors as well as interns coming from universities and research institutions
Job Requirement
· BSC in Medical Laboratory Technology with 0 years of experience.
· Skill in basic immunological and molecular lab techniques is an advantage
Experience: · 0 years of experience GPA for Female 2.75 or Male 3.00

Duty station: Addis Ababa
Salary: 5,358.00
House Allowance: 2,500.00
Mobile & Internet fee: 500.00
Terms of employment: one year contract period with full time employment basis with possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability
