HFE is Founded in 1974 by Drs Catherine and Reginald Hamlin have been caring for the women of Ethiopia for almost 40 years. As well as our main hospital in Addis Ababa we also have 5 regional hospitals, rehabilitation, and reintegration center and a midwifery school. We also deploy midwives into 25 health centers across the country and provide mentoring and other support services to these health centers.

HFE was established in 1974 G.C by Drs. Catherine and Reginald Hamlin, have been caring for the women of Ethiopia for almost more than 60 years. Including our main Fistula Hospital in Addis Ababa, we have five regional hospitals, a rehabilitation and reintegration center, and The Hamlin College of Midwives. We deploy midwives into rural health centers across the country and provide mentoring and other support services to these facilities.

HFE has an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior nurse to join us in the Matron position.
Major Duties and Responsibilities of Clinical Nurse includes the following, but are not limited to:
- As a Matron, the successful candidate will provide strong, visible leadership, strategic direction, and nursing support to the Division, whilst also working with your specialty leadership team to ensure a safe patient journey and the best possible experience through your specialty.
- The Matron will be accountable for the efficient and effective operational management of the nursing workforce, guaranteeing the provision of high quality evidence-based nursing practice which will be delivered within a hospital, community, and outreach setting
- The Matron will be a strong clinical leader, easily identifiable, highly visible, and accessible to patients, careers, and staff
- The Matron will have a particular responsibility to support the developments of Clinical Governance and Service
- Improvement, to modernize patient services and ensure the active involvement of patients and careers in the way services are developed, delivered, and evaluated
- Leading by example the Matron will drive up standards of clinical care and have the authority to get the essential components of care right for patients – clean wards and departments, quality care, ensuring patients are treated with dignity and respect, resolving problems for patients and relatives and ensuring high standards are maintained throughout the Services.

- Provide strong, visible, clinical leadership to energize, inspire and empower nurses and other clinical staff in pursuit of a shared vision to ensure the effective and safe delivery of services across the Division
- Challenge, in a positive manner, current working practices within specialties and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Maintain professional competence, authority and credibility by undertaking regular clinical sessions and being highly visible to staff, actively seeking feedback about the quality of services.
- Work closely with the Leadership Teams of the organization to redesign processes in collaboration with other members of the multi-professional team in order to deliver an improved patient and clinical staff experience and modernization of services.
- Implement systems and processes that create and maintain a culture, which actively promotes staffs’ contribution to the development and delivery of clinical governance and risk management objectives.
- Responsible for the availability of clinical and other support staff in each ward/department.
- Implements hospital policies and rules through various nursing wards/departments.

Education Requirement
- Minimum BSC degree in Nursing from Recognized Institute
Work Experience
- 10+ in Nursing of which at least 3 years as Matron or any related Clinical responsibilities.
Academic requirements
- At least BSC Degree in Nursing.
- At least 3 years working experience as a Hospital Matron or related clinical Responsibilities

- Proven clinical experience and demonstrable commitment to learn and develop skills
- High regard for confidentiality and demonstrable integrity
- Excellent communicator – both written and spoken
- Commitment to excellent client care and the delivery of client-focused services.
- High level of attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Team player who accepts constructive criticism and is comfortable with giving constructive criticism.
- An experience in hospital management and strong abilities/qualities in developing policies (managerial) for hospital departments.
- In addition, with excellent interpersonal and communication skill/abilities, should have very good relation and reputation for effective working within departments.
- Should have quick decision-making and leadership qualities, working effectively with staff members.
