Sheraton Addis, the first luxury collection hotel in Africa and a member of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., started operation on February 28, 1998.
We are situated on the hilltop, opposite the National Palace and very close to the UNECA Headquarters within the proximity of the city center, commands one of the best scenic panoramas in the metropolis.
Sheraton Addis has a mission of availing the best hotel services money can buy, with its 293 deluxe guestrooms including 33 suites. The hotel also provides self-contained private villas located adjacent to the swimming pool. All guestrooms are equipped with double telephone lines; privately manipulated air conditioning system; electronic mini-bar and electronic safe; satellite TV; large office desk; deluxe bathroom and sprinklers for fire extinguishing system.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Patrol all areas of the property; monitor Closed Circuit Televisions, perimeter alarm system and fire life safety system. Conduct daily physical hazard inspections. Respond to accidents, assist guests/associates during emergency situations. Notify appropriate individuals in the event of accidents, attacks, or other incidents. Report scenes of vehicle accidents/thefts. Call for assistance using proper code responses. Maintain confidentiality of all Security/Loss Prevention and property reports/documents; release information only to authorized individuals. Conduct investigations and gather evidence as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications. Applicants without the below listed qualifications need not apply as they will not be considered in the competitive pool.
EDUCATION/TRAINING: Completion of Secondary School. Professional certification; training in self-defense techniques is desired.
EXPERIENCE: Two years work experience in security related operation is required.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: A minimum of “C” grade in English in Ethiopian School Leaving Certificate Examination (ESLCE) is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job.
· Excellent English language skills to facilitate effective communication process
· Read, write, comprehend and well-spoken in English language
· Must have an excellent guest contact skills
· Willingness to work in all shifts
· Must have a good knowledge of the products and services provided by the hotel.
· Must be physically fit, healthy and alert
· Knowledge of local laws and practices
· Ability to gather and analyze information, apply a good judgment
· Basic computer skills
