Sheraton Addis, the first luxury collection hotel in Africa and a member of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., started operation on February 28, 1998.
We are situated on the hilltop, opposite the National Palace and very close to the UNECA Headquarters within the proximity of the city center, commands one of the best scenic panoramas in the metropolis.
Sheraton Addis has a mission of availing the best hotel services money can buy, with its 293 deluxe guestrooms including 33 suites. The hotel also provides self-contained private villas located adjacent to the swimming pool. All guestrooms are equipped with double telephone lines; privately manipulated air conditioning system; electronic mini-bar and electronic safe; satellite TV; large office desk; deluxe bathroom and sprinklers for fire extinguishing system.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for driving revenue from local accounts for the hotel, the Sales Specialist represents by proactively soliciting new business from small business accounts, sourcing new accounts, identifying new targets, and re-soliciting past business leads. Partners with account leaders to pull through business from customer accounts deployed outside the local market. Reports to the Sales Leaders to align on sales activities to generate business for stakeholder properties in the market. Participates in all direct sales activities, works jointly with the entire Sales & Marketing Team with the primary objective to increase revenue to the hotel especially in rooms and banquet sector and other hotel areas. The Sales Specialist is assigned to primarily work on accounts assigned to him/her within the given market segment by generating new business, by turning Key Prospect Accounts into Key Accounts and maintaining existing accounts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications. Applicants without the below listed qualifications need not apply as they will not be considered in the competitive pool.
EDUCATION: Degree in Marketing/Salesmanship or Business Management.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years solid work experience in Sales & Marketing in five star hotels or equivalent business organization.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: Excellent Working Knowledge of English language is required. Other language ability will be advantageous.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: 2nd grade or equivalent or higher driving license is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:
· Persuasive, excellent interpersonal/ guest contact skills
· Good computer skills in the Microsoft Office Environment
· Excellent knowledge of the products and services provided by the hotel
· Work with minimum supervision and handle multiple assignments
· Ability to negotiate ethically with business standards
· Ability to work long hours, with flexible schedule and under pressure
