Millennium DPI Feteh Activity
Millennium DPI Partners is a woman owned small business established in 2010 as separate legal entity in the partnership between Millennium Partners and Development Professionals, Inc. (DPI). Its principles are Brian and Esther Hannon (Millennium Partners), and Natalija Stamenkovic (DPI). Together, Millennium DPI Partners implement rule of law projects globally for the US Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Rule of Law IQC awarded in 2013.
Under USAID’s Rule of Law IQC, Millennium DPI has provided assistance in the following areas:
- Strengthened Checks and Balances and Judicial Independence
- Fairness and Human Rights
- Effective Application of the Law
- Rule of Law in Post Conflict Environments
- Gender and Social Exclusion
Launched in February 2019, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded Feteh (Justice) Activity in Ethiopia provides flexible technical assistance response to its Ethiopian partners in the process of legal and judicial reform. Feteh’s partners include the Federal and Regional Attorney General’s Offices; the Federal and Regional Supreme Courts; the House of Peoples’ Representatives; constitutionally mandated democratic institutions such as the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission, the Ethiopian Institution of the Ombudsman and the Public Defender’s Office; civil society organizations; legal and academic institutions; and the media.
General Description of Position
The Program Support Team has domains of activities to ensure the accountability and visibility of the Feteh Activity. It includes the collection of data and generation of evidence for tracking project accomplishment as well as ensuring the visibility of project activities through the use of communication tools/materials and organization of events. As part of this team, the Program Support Intern will be responsible for assisting the Feteh Program Support Team, in both Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) and the Communications and Public Outreach activities.
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities
The Program Support Intern will undertake work in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for Millennium DPI in support of the Feteh (Justice) Activity pursuant to Millennium DPI’s contract with USAID. Under the direct supervision of the Civil Society and Program Support Team Leader and collaborating jointly with the MEL Coordinator and the Communications and Public Outreach Coordinator, the Intern shall assume the following specific responsibilities for the length of his/her Internship with Millennium DPI:
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL)
- Assist the MEL team with assigned tasks related to MEL such as data collection and data entry in collaboration with the MEL Coordinator;
- Preparation/availing of training/meeting attendance sheets and forms for data collection;
- Tracking supervision schedule and support in preparation and documentation of supervision activities;
- Supporting technical team to ensure awareness and implementation of the approved MEL Plan and data collection tools;
- Drafting and updating data visualization to use in communication materials;
- Other MEL tasks as requested.
Communication and Public Outreach
- Support the communication and public outreach team with assigned tasks such as social media post design, drafting, and follow up;
- Track social media posts in line with partner’s media and other engagements/deliverables to ensure consistency;
- Summarize radio and television media partner deliverables as required;
- Assist with organizing and coordinating meetings, workshops, conferences, and preparing coverage reports;
- Support the Program Support Team in documenting Feteh and/or Feteh’s partners’ events, with visual and/or audio documentation.
- Assist with developing communication-related material.
- Other communication and public outreach tasks as requested.
- This internship will require significant domestic travel to coordinate events of the project, as assigned by the Civil Society and Program Support Team Leader.
- Other duties as assigned by the Civil Society and Program Support Team Leader.
- Social Science, Communication or relevant master’s degree.
- Excellent organization, professionalism, integrity, trustworthiness, and flexibility.
- Demonstrated fluency in Amharic and English, both verbally and in writing.
- Highly skilled with relevant technology – MS products, Google Suite, social media platforms, graphic design tools.
- Willingness to travel domestically.
- Preferred: Graphic design experience, professional social media experience, familiarity with photography.
