MINAYE Group is a group of companies engaged in the supply of office and household furniture, import, retail and distribution of Food stuff and Cleaning Materials (Supermarket items), photo copy services, manufacturing of carton boxes, flexible packaging and other forms of packaging, printing service and in the agricultural sector by growing and export flowers (Roses) in Ethiopia.

The company was established in 1992 E.C .Before its establishment as Group it has operated for over 20 years as a sole proprietorship. Minaye Group has a total of 1,293 employees and is well known for its customer care, 30 days credit facility, after sales services like maintenance, assembly, free transportation and consultation. It has a good reputation with its partners in the banks as well as with government offices. The Minaye Group has never had any Claims, arbitration, or other litigation records. The company and its owners have a prolonged personal and most of all commercial relationship with Government, Non-Government, Private companies and individuals in the country.

POSITION SUMMARY

Factory/Plant Manager is responsible to oversee the overall daily business activities, improving overall business functions, developing strategies, managing budgets, increase company’s profitability, acting as a representative of the farm within the business sector, retaining knowledge regarding the business and maintaining knowledge of applicable laws and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop short, medium and long-term strategic and operational plans for the factory and implement accordingly.
  • Ensure that the factory operates on an approved budget, and meets financial targets.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs by improving operational efficiency.
  • Develop, measure and track effective KPIs; make iterative improvements through investing in processes, systems, and talent across the company.
  • Structure workflows, processes, and SOPs to achieve a highly standardized approach to handling various factory activities.
  • Develop and implement new business strategies for improving processes and procedures to improve accuracy, efficiency, minimize waste etc.
  • Translate company’s goals into departmental goals and communicate so they are understood by all levels of the operations team.
  • Lead, manage and improve the production related functions (estimation, production performance, technical purchasing, quality, safety, warehousing and factory administration)
  • Drive manufacturing excellence through increased quality, reduced cycle time and improved customer satisfaction and cost leadership.
  • Analyze process workflow, employee and space requirements as well as equipment layouts; implement improvements to optimize.
  • Maintain knowledge of pests and diseases and an understanding of how they spread and how to treat them.
  • Responsible for handling all activities pertinent to the factory as well as worked towards upgrading and developing the quality of factory products.
  • Meet planned targets and performance standards; report on overall performance at periodic intervals or as and when required.
  • Assess the current and future development of the factory and its impact on the overall Minaye PLC performance.
  • Perform periodic risk assessments of the factory and mitigate any risks to operations.
  • Developing and implementing quality assurance framework for the factory.
  • Make sure that proper planning is in place for repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery.
  • Building professional networks and keeping abreast of developments in Furniture industry.
  • Manage the external relationships with external parties and the surrounding community.
  • Represent the factory in all dealings with third parties in any issues that matters the farm.
  • Follow-up, coordinate, and supervise project studies and implementation being undertaken by external consultants and contractors.
  • Provide periodic coaching and training programs for employees under your supervision.
  • Perform other activities assigned by immediate supervisor.

PERSONS SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

  • BSc degree in Engineering, management, or related fields are required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in production management experience in a manufacturing environment and Minimum 2-year experience as factory manager

Knowledge, Skills, Competence:

  • Extensive experience in a manufacturing related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • The ability to make decisions in stressful environments.
  • Ability to implement projects under pressure.
  • Leading teams in a positive manner.
  • Management experience would be a plus.
  • A passion for furniture.
