Brief Profile of Ethiopian Management Institute

The Ethiopian Management Institute (EMI) is a public enterprise that has been operating in Ethiopia as a service provider since 1958. It is the leading management development service provider in the country. In the past 60+ years, EMI has tremendously contributed in enhancing the managerial capacity of organizations in the country by rendering management development services (training, consultancy and research). EMI has also contributed its share in the implementation of the Civil Service Reform Program. So far, we have reached a wider range of organizations throughout the country. In 2018/2019 alone, we have provided trainings on various topics to more than 20,000 leaders and employees drawn from governmental, non-governmental and private sector organizations. In addition, in the past year, more than 190,000 leaders and employees used our facilities at our head office in Addis Ababa and our training center at Debrezeit for their trainings, workshops, conferences, discussions, retreats and other gatherings. We have also served hundreds of organizations through our management consultancy services. Our engagement with various organizations as well as their leaders and employees has enabled us to deeply understand organizational contexts, cultures, employee behaviors, as well as leadership and management challenges. Such exposure to authentic situations was our guiding light to designing and implementing management development interventions that have addressed generic and specific areas of concern among our client organizations. The understanding of organizations combined with the design and delivery of quality and relevant management development programs has given us a competitive advantage in providing training, consultancy and research services.
